Privacy policy

The short version

ChordMyanmar is a songbook. You can read every song without an account, on the website and in the app alike. Signing in is optional and only exists so your favourite singers and songs follow you between devices. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking anywhere, and we do not sell or share anything about you. If you never sign in, we hold nothing about you.

The mobile app

The app requests song and singer information from our server and displays it. The whole songbook is readable without an account.

  • Signing in is optional. It is offered so that your liked singers and saved songs are kept, and are the same on the website and on any other device you read on.
  • It contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking software of any kind.
  • On your device it saves which language you chose, and — only if you sign in — a token that keeps you signed in. Deleting the app removes both.
  • It does not ask for your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos or any other device permission.

What our server records

Whenever the app or the website asks our server for a page, the server keeps an ordinary web log entry: the address requested, the time, your IP address and your browser or app version. These logs exist to keep the service running and to investigate faults, and they are not used to build a profile of you.

We also count how many times each song has been opened. This is a single number stored against the song. It is not connected to you, your device or your IP address, and it cannot be traced back to any individual.

Signing in

The website offers sign-in with Google. The app offers Google and Sign in with Apple. Either way it is optional, and everything is readable without it.

If you do sign in, the provider tells us your name and your email address — and Google also gives a link to your profile picture. We store those, the time you last signed in, and the singers and songs you like or save. We never receive your Google or Apple password.

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us, never your real one.

Signing in on the website sets a cookie so the site remembers you between pages. In the app, the same job is done by a token stored on the device. Neither is used for advertising or tracking. If you never sign in, the site sets only the cookie needed to protect forms from abuse.

Companies that help run the service

We keep this list as short as we can. Each of these sees only what it needs to do its job:

  • Amazon Web Services — hosts the server that stores the songbook.
  • Cloudflare — delivers the site and the singer photographs, and filters abusive traffic.
  • Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Apple — only if you choose to sign in with Apple.

What we never do

  • We do not sell your information, and we never have.
  • We do not show advertising, and we carry no advertising trackers.
  • We do not follow you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not ask anyone for personal information beyond the name and email address a sign-in provides, and we ask for nothing at all unless you choose to sign in.

Your choices

If you have an account, you can delete it yourself from the Profile tab in the app. That removes your account, your liked singers, your saved songs and every device you are signed in on. It cannot be undone, and nothing is kept afterwards.

If you signed in with Apple, deleting your account also tells Apple to end the grant, so ChordMyanmar stops appearing under Sign in with Apple in your iPhone settings.

You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to the address below. Deleting the app removes what it saved on your device.

Song lyrics and chords

The songs are collected for study and practice. If you hold rights to a song and want it removed, write to us and we will take it down.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be announced on this page.
